Joint Seminar Explores Learner Autonomy: Addressing Challenges and Fostering Creativity in 21st Century

Pontianak, 1st August 2023 – A captivating Joint Seminar on English Language Teaching, centered around the theme “Learner Autonomy: Challenges and Creativity in the 21st Century,” successfully took place at the AULA FKIP Universitas Tanjungpura. The event was collaboratively organized by Prodi Bahasa Inggris FKIP Universitas Tanjungpura, Kalimantan Barat TEFLIN Chapter, and School of Design and Arts Swinburne University of Technology Sarawak.

Scholars and experts from different parts of the world gathered to share their valuable insights into enhancing learner autonomy and creative language learning approaches. The seminar brought together a diverse audience, including university students, teachers from various schools, and lecturers from multiple universities, including Universitas Tanjungpura, Politeknik Negeri Pontianak, Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak, IAIN Pontianak, Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama, and ITEKES Muhammadiyah Kalimantan Barat.

The seminar featured a distinguished panel of presenters who impressed the audience with their expertise and innovative research findings:

• Dr. Andrzej Cirocki, a distinguished academic from the esteemed University of York.
• Dr. Hugh John Leong Yik Kuan, an eminent scholar from the renowned Swinburne University of Technology, Sarawak.
• Dr. Yanti Sri Rezeki from Universitas Tanjungpura, graced the audience with her valuable contributions.
• Dr. Istaqamah, representing Kalimantan Barat TEFLIN Chapter, also presented invaluable research findings.

The event was skillfully moderated by Surmiyati, M.Ed., Ph.D. from Universitas Tanjungpura, and Yuniarti, M.Pd. from Universitas Muhammadiyah Pontianak. Their expertise and guidance ensured that the discussions flowed smoothly, allowing participants to engage in meaningful exchanges during the seminar.
